Acne Photo Dynamic Therapy (PDT) is a safe and highly effective method of treating not only moderate to severe acne, but a variety of skin conditions. It involves the application of a photosensitizing agent, such as our Levulan Peel, to the skin, which is then exposed to a specific wavelength of light. The light activates the photosensitizer, producing a chemical reaction that destroys the bacteria that cause acne. Photodynamic therapy can be used to reduce inflammation, reduce the production of oil, and reduce the appearance of acne.
Because every patient is different and different types of acne need to be treated differently, during the initial consultation a medical aesthetician will perform an in-depth Visia Skin Analysis to determine the best treatment approach.
